Czech Ministry: Securing Email and Data Communications
ComSource supplied OPSWAT MetaDefender technologies to a Czech ministry for email and file inspection and sanitisation. The documented phase covers deployment of selected technologies, pilot operation and validation of specific use cases.
Customer: a Czech ministry (anonymised in this case study)
Period stated in the case study: 2021–2024
Project at a glance
-
Email inspection
OPSWAT MetaDefender for inspection and sanitisation of messages and attachments.
-
File protection
Secure Storage and multiscanning for handling user data.
-
Pilot validation
A deployed environment for selected users and proof-of-concept testing.
Customer challenge
Following identification of a security risk and an immediate response, the customer needed a systematic way to strengthen communications security. The aim was to inspect and sanitise user data during environment migration and improve protection for email, files and removable media.
ComSource’s solution and role
- Email Gateway Security: inspection and sanitisation of email communications and attachments.
- Secure Storage: inspection of files and content from network folders and transfers, with web access.
- Two external vaults: an environment for internal employees to upload files.
- Multiscanning: analysis with multiple antivirus engines; the described configuration used up to 16 interfaces.
- Consultancy, operational support and an agreed SLA.
Outcomes and status of the documented phase
Selected technologies were implemented and handed over. At the stage described in the study, the platform was operating as a pilot for selected users. A proof of concept was used to validate individual use cases and configure communications and security flows.
This phase delivered a deployed environment for validating data protection. The study does not establish completion of a full rollout or provide a methodology for measuring a detection percentage, so no such performance figure is stated here.
Potential expansion
The project description identifies options to increase capacity, add antivirus engines, introduce hardware kiosks and an OPSWAT sandbox, and extend protection to on-premise infrastructure. These are development plans, not documented completed deliveries.
