These findings come from an AppLogic analysis published by ComSource, a Czech company specialising in cybersecurity, network infrastructure and data analytics.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe decline is less pronounced on fixed networks, where MAMAAN\u2019s combined share fell from 47% to 45% of total traffic. The drop is more substantial on mobile networks: in 2024, these six companies accounted for almost 60% of all traffic, falling to 46% in 2025, with Alphabet and Meta seeing the largest decreases. TikTok, meanwhile, is once again gaining considerable ground on mobile networks. It remains the third-largest generator of mobile internet traffic despite security concerns and disputes, and is still the only non-Western company in this group,\u201d<\/em> says Michal \u0160tus\u00e1k of ComSource.<\/p>\n<p>Despite its decline on mobile networks, Alphabet retains its position as the largest generator of internet traffic, primarily because Google and YouTube remain the world\u2019s most visited websites. Alphabet accounts for 16% of all fixed-network traffic, up from 11% in 2024, and 12% of mobile traffic, a significant fall from 18% in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Despite a substantial decline, Meta remains the strongest player on mobile networks thanks to Facebook and Instagram, together with the messaging platforms WhatsApp and Messenger. It generates 23% of all mobile internet traffic, compared with 30% in 2024, and 7% of fixed-network traffic.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cNetflix recorded a slight decrease in traffic but remains the leading streaming platform. Amazon\u2019s position as a major contributor to internet traffic is supported by Prime Video, which alone accounts for almost 90% of Amazon\u2019s fixed-network traffic and 50% of its mobile traffic. Prime Video generates 5% of total fixed-network traffic. Disney+ is another significant streaming service, accounting for around 4% of fixed-network traffic,\u201d<\/em> adds Michal \u0160tus\u00e1k.<\/p>\n<p>Apple remained close to its 2024 figures, accounting for 5% of all fixed-network traffic and 5% of mobile traffic. Microsoft gained slightly on mobile networks, largely as the shift of Office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint from desktop software to web browsers continued. Together with Teams, LinkedIn, Bing and Outlook, this gave Microsoft a 4% share of fixed-network traffic and 3% of mobile traffic.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cMAMAAN\u2019s dominance has two sides. On one side are convenience, innovation and the global availability of services. On the other is the concentration of traffic in the hands of a few platforms, creating risks for businesses and individual users around dependence on these services, outages, changes to terms of service and data protection,\u201d<\/em> says Michal \u0160tus\u00e1k.<\/p>\n<p>The new AppLogic analysis also highlights a phenomenon not covered by the previous year\u2019s report: the infrastructure role of technology companies beyond the application layer. Seven publicly traded giants \u2014 Alphabet, Meta, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Nvidia and Broadcom \u2014 not only generate traffic; Nvidia and Broadcom also produce the hardware on which the internet physically runs. AppLogic estimates that the vast majority of global internet traffic passes through Broadcom networking chips, taking the debate about digital dominance to an entirely new level.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt is becoming increasingly clear that real power over the internet lies not only with those who own the most popular applications, but also with those who own the infrastructure through which everything passes. MAMAAN dominates content and the user-facing layer, while Nvidia and Broadcom control the physical backbone.
